Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award at University of British Columbia

The Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award, offered by the University of British Columbia (UBC), aims to recognize exceptional academic achievements, leadership skills, and active participation in student affairs and community service among international undergraduate students. This prestigious award not only acknowledges the accomplishments of these students but also provides them with the necessary financial support to excel in their academic pursuits.

The value of the Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award is determined based on the financial need of each recipient. To evaluate their financial requirements, the total tuition, fees, and living costs are subtracted from the financial contribution that the student and their family can make each year. This ensures that the award is tailored to meet the specific needs of each recipient. Moreover, this award may be extended for up to three years of undergraduate study, or until the student completes their degree, ensuring sustained support throughout their academic journey.

To be considered for the Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award, candidates must meet the following requirements:

1. Be international students with a Canadian study permit, intending to study in Canada.

2. Can either transfer from a recognized high school or from their first year at a post-secondary college or another university to attend UBC.

3. Meet all of UBC's admission standards, including the English Language Admission Standard and general and degree-specific requirements.

4. Have a track record of academic excellence, highlighting the applicant's commitment to their studies.

5. Demonstrate financial need that would otherwise hinder them from pursuing a UBC degree.

6. Graduated from high school no earlier than June two years prior to the academic year for which they are applying.

The Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award serves as a testament to the University of British Columbia's commitment to fostering academic excellence and supporting international students. By recognizing exceptional achievements, leadership skills, and community involvement, UBC not only acknowledges the valuable contributions of these students but also empowers them to pursue their educational aspirations.
